rEVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

All nurses and students are welcome to submit abstracts in the Nursing Research or EB/QI categories. The Review of the Literature category is primary geared towards students and new grads. MENTORS are available to assist you with the development of your abstract. Please don’t hesitate to inquire about assistance well before the deadline for submission.   STEP 1: COMPLETE THE ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM

  • As primary author, complete the online form with your contact information and co-presenter name(s), if applicable.

  • The online form is to be completed in one sitting. We recommended that you peruse the entire form, gather your information, then cut/paste into the online form.

  STEP 2: ADDITIONAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • After completing the online submission form, email the following (Word format) files to:  NursingResearchSym@gmail.com Subject Line:  Symposium Submission

A. FINANCIAL RELATIONSHIP FORM (FRF)                                  

In addition to completing the online form, a Financial Relationship Form (formerly COI form) is required for all primary authors. CLICK HERE to download the FRF.

B. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Along with the FRF, submit your one page abstract (in Word format) with formatting as follows:

 a) One page, 8.5”x11”, Word Format   b) 12 Times Roman font   c) One inch margins all around.  

 

 Title & Authors:

  • A descriptive title that describes the work completed along with primary & co-authors. (abstracts will be blinded prior to review)

 Introduction to the Clinical Question:

  • What is the clinical or PICO (Patient/Population/  Problem, Intervention, Comparison, & Outcome) statement?  The author may choose between a PICO or clinical question.

 Background Information:

  • Historical significance of the research topic

  • Describes why the work is important

Significance of the Clinical Problem:

  • Best practices

  • Current issues with practice or patient care related to the research topic

Theoretical Framework:

  • Provide a theoretical framework for applying research results to the real world.

 Methods:

  • Describe search strategy, and databases used

  • Search terms used

 Results:

  • Describe the results of the project including whether goals were met.

 Recommendations for Nursing Science:

Based on the synthesis of the literature, provide recommendations for nursing practice. This may include:

  • Further research

  • Educational initiatives

  • Policy/QI changes

  • Legal/political initiatives

  • Practice-based changes

  • Other initiatives/changes to improve nursing practice
